sustainability
how we get there
We're proud to present our 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report, highlighting alsico Group's achievements in sustainability, inclusivity, and ethical practices. This report reflects our dedication to reducing environmental impact, empowering our workforce, and upholding the highest standards in everything we do.

reducing our environmental impact
This year, we’ve taken meaningful steps to improve our environmental performance. Compared to our base year, 2022, we’ve achieved a 6,2% reduction in overall emissions. While there is still a long way to go, this progress reflects our continued efforts to better understand and manage the impact of our operations.
Our approach to materials also evolved further. In 2024, 31% of the fibres we used were what we define as preferred: either made from renewable resources or non-virgin fossil fuel synthetics. This shift is part of our broader goal to make more conscious choices in material sourcing and gradually reduce our reliance on conventional virgin materials.

taking responsibility for every garment
We also recognise that our responsibility doesn’t end at the point of sale. That’s why we’re investing in systems (ARX) to support the return of garments at end-of-life. In 2024, we were able to take back 56 tonnes of garments or 1,8% compared to the garments we put on the market in 2024. While the percentage remains modest, it is a starting point as we work toward more circular approaches and infrastructure to support larger-scale take-back and reuse in the future.

empowering our workforce
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond environmental impact — it includes fostering a supportive, inclusive, and empowering workplace for our global team of 8,038 employees. With 78% of our workforce being women, many of whom are employed in production roles across countries like Laos, Madagascar, Tunisia, Morocco, and Mexico, we recognise the importance of promoting gender equality and creating equal opportunities for all.

training & education
In 2024, we continued investing in our people through training and education, allocating €237.853 to professional development. This investment helps equip our teams with the skills they need to grow within their roles and adapt to an evolving industry. Through initiatives such as AED training, ergonomic improvements, and tailored upskilling programmes, we aim to ensure that every employee can work safely, confidently, and with purpose.

well-being and recognition
Beyond training, we also focus on well-being and recognition. Across our sites, we implemented various local initiatives — ranging from flu vaccination campaigns to summer camps for employees’ children, from budget management workshops to celebrations of long-serving staff. These activities are designed to create a workplace culture where people feel valued, heard, and supported.

commitment to quality and ethical standards
At Alsico, we see ethical employment as a core part of sustainable business. Across our global sites, we are committed to ensuring safe, fair, and respectful working environments — supported by a strong stance against child labour and continuous health and safety improvements.
To guide and evaluate these efforts, we work with the OEKO-TEX® STeP certification, currently held by our sites in Madagascar, Laos, Tunisia, and Rabat (Morocco). In 2025, we plan to expand certification to Marrakesh (Morocco) and Mexico, reinforcing consistent standards across our operations.

happy employees
Complementing this, we conducted a social due diligence assessment with &Wider at our Tunisian units, representing 9% of our workforce, as part of our wider goal to embed ethical practices across all locations.

how we get there
In 2024, we launched our new sustainability strategy: The Better Future System. This framework sets out clear, measurable objectives across environmental, social, and operational areas, guiding us toward long-term positive impact. It forms the foundation for how we reduce our footprint, support our people, and create lasting value. The following overview highlights the key goals that will shape our progress in the years ahead.
