Accountant

As an Accountant, you will become part of a team of five accountants, each with their own responsibilities and portfolio of companies. You will take ownership of your own entities, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the accounting process from A to Z. You will identify discrepancies, take the necessary corrective actions, and actively contribute to the optimisation and automation of financial processes. You will report directly to the Finance Manager.
Job description
- Together with your direct colleague, you will process approximately 5,000 purchase invoices each year while maintaining a clear overview at all times.
- You will prepare supplier payments and liaise with suppliers regarding payment follow-up.
- You will ensure accurate VAT administration and statutory reporting, including VAT returns, customer listings and Intrastat declarations.
- You will carry out accurate month-end and year-end closing activities, including provisions and intercompany reconciliations.
- You will work closely with colleagues in Finance, Purchasing and our local sites, while supporting international colleagues with financial queries.
- You will act as a key point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- You will provide backup support for your colleagues and assist with other finance-related responsibilities when needed.
Profile
- You hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax or a related field, or have equivalent experience (minimum 3 years).
- Experience with SAP FI is a strong asset.
- Experience with DocuWare or another digital document management system is an advantage.
- You have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- You are eager to learn, proactive and solution-oriented.
- You have strong analytical skills and are confident in challenging existing ways of working.
- You work accurately and pay close attention to detail.
- You are able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- You communicate clearly with colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- You enjoy bringing structure to complex processes and files.
- You feel comfortable working in an international environment.
- You are fluent in Dutch; a good command of French and English is an advantage.
