How arc flash protection fits utilities clothing
Arc flash is one of the electrical hazards utilities teams may need to plan for, especially when work involves electrical panels, switching, maintenance, or high-voltage environments. Arc flash protective clothing is selected through a risk assessment and should be matched to the task, garment rating, and relevant standards.
Understanding garment testing
Some utility roles require protective clothing tested against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. Arc protection can be assessed using recognised test methods, including the open arc test and the box test, in accordance with the relevant standards.
