PPE garments and protective clothing for maximum wearer protection in chemical industries. Designing and manufacturing PPE clothing for the chemical manufacturing industry.

Protective clothing for the chemical industry

Alsico supplies protective clothing for chemicals, petrochemicals, refinery, plastics, fertiliser, and industrial production environments. These workplaces often combine more than one risk, from chemical splash and heat exposure to static discharge, flame hazards, and moving vehicles on site. Our chemical wear is made to help industry teams stay protected without losing sight of comfort, movement, durability, and day-to-day wearability.

Multi-risk workwear for chemical environments

Chemical and petrochemical sites rarely involve one isolated hazard. A worker may move between processing areas, maintenance tasks, loading zones, and outdoor plant spaces in the same shift. Their clothing needs to support the risk profile of the work, not only the job title.

That means protective clothing for chemicals needs to cover more than one performance requirement at a time. Garments may need to support chemical splash protection, heat and flame resistance, anti-static performance, and visibility. And they need to do this without compromising the wearer's ability to move and work comfortably.

For nearly 100 years, protecting the workers around the world has been part of our DNA.

Gauthier Siau, CEO alsico Group

Protection is built into everything we do

We specialise in protecting people through complex workwear solutions for large-scale organisations that need more than standard, off-the-shelf garments. When the right solution does not yet exist, we listen to our wearers and bring together our industry expertise and team of experts to develop the high-performance fabrics that go into our garments.

With that expertise comes a responsibility to do everything we can to protect the workers of the world, the people of alsico and the planet we all share.

For teams working with complex industrial risks

Legacy of safety in chemical workwear

Alsico is a family business with a long history of designing, making, and supplying protective workwear for high-risk sectors. Founded nearly 100 years ago, we support organisations where garment performance, wearer acceptance, and reliable supply all affect day-to-day safety.

Our garments protect 10 million people every day, supported by independent quality checks, in-house testing, dedicated designers, and product engineers. We also continue to push workwear production forward, with PFAS-free garment options such as kibo and our own end-of-life hub for more responsible garment disposal.

For chemical industry teams, that experience supports protective clothing that can meet complex safety needs while staying practical enough for long shifts, repeated laundering, and daily industrial use.

Garments made with Kibo, powered
by the ALSIPRO technology

For chemical and petrochemical environments, alsico supplies protective garments made with Kibo, a multi-risk (MR) and flame-retardant (FR) fabric powered by ALSIPRO technology.

Kibo is engineered to support protection against chemical splashes, heat, flames, and electrostatic discharge, while still being light and flexible enough for full-shift wear in demanding industrial settings. Used within finished alsico garments, it helps chemical industry teams choose protective workwear that can respond to several risks without relying on unnecessary layers or overly heavy clothing.

Protection across chemical industry risks

Chemical industry work can involve liquid splash, hot surfaces, electrostatic discharge, particulate exposure, and changing temperatures. In some settings, hazardous materials clothing may also need hi-vis features where forklifts, tankers, site vehicles, or external contractors are present.

This is why chemical safety wear often needs to do more than protect against one hazard. The right protective clothing for chemicals depends on the substance, the exposure route, the process, the work area, and the time spent in the risk zone.

Standards for chemical protective clothing

Choosing the right chemical protective clothing starts with the site risk assessment. European safety standards show how garments have been tested and help teams select protection suited to the substance, task, exposure level and working environment.

EN ISO 11612:2015: protection against heat and flame

EN ISO 11612:2015 sets minimum performance requirements for clothing designed to protect against heat and flame, including limited flame spread, convective and radiant heat, contact heat and molten metal splashes.

EN 13034:2005+A1:2009: clothing to protect against limited and accidental splashes of liquid chemicals

EN 13034:2005+A1:2009 applies to chemical protective clothing offering limited protection against liquid chemicals. Certification should always be matched to the chemical, exposure level, task and site risk assessment.

Speak to an expert

Choosing protective clothing for chemicals often involves more than selecting a garment category. Teams need to consider the substance, the task, the work area, the length of exposure, cleaning requirements, wearer comfort, and how the garment will perform over time.

Our team can help you match garment options to your site risk assessment, wearer requirements, and supply schedule. From early planning right through to wearer trials and rollout.

Chemical protective clothing

Our chemical protective clothing range includes garments developed for industrial teams working around chemical splash, heat and flame, electrostatic discharge, and mixed production risks.

Bespoke design service

Chemical organisations often need protective clothing that works across different departments, shift patterns, work areas, and wearer groups. A production worker, maintenance engineer, tanker loading operator, and supervisor may not all need the same garment combination.

Alsico’s design team can help develop workwear that reflects the risks of the site while supporting movement, comfort, fit, branding, and long-term supply.

innovative solutions

Alsico invests in fabric development, garment engineering and wearer testing to advance how chemical safety wear performs in real working conditions. This includes kibo, powered by ALSIPRO technology and available with a PFAS-free finish, alongside our end-of-life hub for more responsible garment disposal.

commitment to protection

With nearly a century in protective uniform manufacturing, alsico understands that chemical wear must balance reliable protection with all-day wearability and responsible production. We are GRS certified and continue to work on garment options that support protection while reducing product impact where possible.

Frequently asked questions

Workers in the chemical industry require specialised protective clothing such as flame-retardant coveralls, chemical-resistant uniforms, and anti-static tops and trousers. Alsico designs PPE uniforms tailored to protect workers from chemical splashes, heat, and static discharge.

Choosing PPE starts with assessing workplace hazards, such as exposure to chemicals, heat, flame, or static electricity. Alsico offers certified, high-performance tops, trousers, and coveralls that meet industry standards for safety, durability, and wearer comfort.

Protective clothing in the chemical sector are made from advanced fabrics like Nomex®, FR-treated cotton or blends with inherent flame resistance and chemical resistance. Alsico's uniforms combine safety features with comfort and long-lasting quality.

Flame-retardant and anti-static workwear protects workers from flash fires, static discharge, and chemical exposure, which are common risks in chemical settings. Alsico provides a range of certified flame-retardant and anti-static uniforms that meet safety regulations.

Yes. alsico’s multi-risk clothing is compliant with international safety standards such as EN ISO 11612:2015 for heat and flame protection and EN 13034+A1:2009 for chemical splash protection. Our uniforms undergo testing to meet the demands of chemical workplaces.
